Industrial Design / Discursive Design / Unconscious Design

Leg bouncing is often viewed through a superstitious lens in China — older generations commonly believe it brings bad luck or financial loss. However, I see it differently. Leg bouncing is usually an unconscious action, signaling stress or prolonged fatigue and a natural need for movement. Existing research also suggests that it helps release energy. For people who spend most of their day sitting and rarely have time to exercise, this behavior can actually be beneficial.

Inspired by this, I chose a humorous and playful approach to merge exercise with work by designing a leg-bouncing fitness device. The project reclaims leg bouncing as a productive action while also exploring the balance between work and life, inviting audiences to reflect on their everyday habits.
